I was admitted to Dickinson College in May
2020. For more than half of my Freshman year
I was online and I lived at home. This is a
picture of the at home Convocation ceremony
my family put together for me.
During this course we explored ways to empower communities and community members to advocate for the environmental movement. This course was valuable to me because we discussed the role and purpose of being an environmental leader. It also prompted me to think about the systematic power structures in our society that limit underrepresented people’s voices in the environmental movement.

Environmental Leadership and Organizing for Sustainable Social Change
This course was formative because it taught me about historical and modern day environmental policy. This analysis helped me begin to understand how politicians perceive and address environmental issues. In this course I had the rare opportunity to research and write an environmental policy report that would be considered by the Carlisle Borough, in Carlisle, PA for their Climate Action Plan.

Environmental Policy
Environmental Ethics is my first philosophy course at Dickinson. Our readings and discussions have disrupted the type of language I normally used to describe the environment and environmental issues. I have since been able to facilitate conversations with peers about more considerate language to use when talking about the environment. This course has encouraged me to continue to form a more respectful relationship to the earth.
